What is Waiver Certificate?

11 November 2020

Waiver certificate explained: when shipments are exempt from full CTN/ECTN requirements.

A waiver certificate exempts certain shipments from the full CTN/ECTN/BESC requirement. Not all countries offer waivers, and eligibility varies.

Typical exemptions: Humanitarian aid, diplomatic shipments, personal effects, military cargo, or other categories defined by each country. The waiver confirms the shipment qualifies for exemption.

How to obtain: Contact the destination country's authorities or an authorized agent like GetCTN. Provide shipment details – we will confirm if a waiver applies and assist with the process.

Important: Do not assume your shipment is exempt. Verify before departure. Shipping without proper documentation (either full CTN or valid waiver) results in fines and delays.
