All Round Guide to Ghana Shipment
11 November 2020
Complete guide to shipping to Ghana: CTN/ECTN requirements, Tema and Takoradi ports, documentation.
Ghana requires a Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) or ECTN for maritime imports. The main ports are Tema and Takoradi.
Requirements: Commercial Invoice, Bill of Lading, Freight Invoice, Packing List. The CTN must be validated before vessel departure. Ghana uses the SPN (Shipment Pre-Notification) system – GetCTN handles the full process.
Timing: Apply at least 72 hours before loading when possible. Late applications risk rejection. GetCTN processes Ghana CTN within 24-48 hours.
Transit cargo: Shipments transiting through Tema to Burkina Faso, Mali, or Niger need both Ghana CTN and destination country certificate. Contact us for multi-country shipments.
