Ghana | Cargo Tracking Note: All You Need to Know

11 November 2020

Complete guide to Ghana CTN: Tema, Takoradi, SPN system, documents, and compliance for shippers.

Ghana's Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) system is mandatory for all maritime imports. Here is everything you need to know.

Ports: Tema (main port) and Takoradi. Both require validated CTN before cargo arrival.

Documents: Commercial Invoice, Bill of Lading, Freight Invoice, Packing List. The CTN links to your B/L number – ensure accuracy.

SPN system: Ghana uses Shipment Pre-Notification. GetCTN handles registration and validation. Apply before vessel departure – typically 72 hours before loading.

Penalties: Without a valid CTN, cargo faces detention, demurrage, and fines. GetCTN processes Ghana CTN within 24-48 hours. Contact us for a quote.
